Wyatt Homes Raises Over £13,500 for Local Charities Through Sponsored Walk

We are thrilled to announce that over £13,500 was raised through our recent charity walk around Dorset, in aid of two great local causes: Routes to Roots and Wimborne Food Bank.

17 Wyatt Homes employees took part in a heroic 33 kilometre walk across the county, raising vital funds towards combatting homelessness and hunger across Wimborne and the wider Poole area.

On Saturday, April 26, a wide range of our workforce undertook the gruelling hike along the Jurassic Coast from Bowleaze Cove in Weymouth, all the way to Corfe Castle, five miles south of Wareham.

The distance that our dedicated employees covered is over twice as long as in 2024, with over double the amount raised compared to the hike around Studland, which raised over £5,000 for the same local charities.

Our CEO, David Wyatt, said: “The commitment shown by our incredible team for two important Dorset organisations is incredible to see, and we’re very pleased by the support we have been able to provide for Wimborne Food Bank and Routes to Roots.

“These organisations make a massive contribution for so many people across the region, and we’re delighted to have doubled the amount we have been able to support them with this year.

The work they both undertake is inspiring, and we look forward to continuing to support local businesses and charities across the region.”

“I’d like to thank everybody who donated, including our amazing contractors and those in the supply chain, it’s great to know this immense achievement was so well-supported.”

Routes to Roots is Poole’s homelessness charity, which provides vital work across the town and beyond to help vulnerable people, through offering hot food, showers, sleeping bags and other necessities, while also working closely with addiction teams, mental health workers and Poole’s rough sleeper outreach team.

Wimborne Food Bank provides a community service for those who are struggling across the town, including daily essentials to those in need. With food parcels and items, debt advice, budget support and more, the charity ensures that local families don’t miss out on important experiences due to financial constraints.

Ben Sargent, Centre Manager at Routes to Roots said, “Wyatt Homes has been a constant source of support for our organisation, we were truly blown away by the staggering figure their recent hike raised.

“It was incredible to learn the lengths that Wyatt Homes staff members went to support vulnerable people across the community.”

Sharon Keenan, Manager at Wimborne Food Bank said “This is an amazing achievement from Wyatt Homes to raise so much for our vital services for those in the region.

“This will make a huge difference & will allow us to further support individuals and families who are unable to afford food and help those in a vulnerable position who will benefit from further guidance and support.

“We would also like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in the walk and to everyone that supported it by sponsoring somebody, it really means a lot to us.”
