Wyatt Homes welcomes experienced Contracts Manager to continue business growth

Peter brings nearly two decades of experience in construction management

We are thrilled to welcome Peter Haynes to Wyatt Homes in his new role as Contracts Manager.

Peter, 41, from Beenham in West Berkshire, brings nearly two decades of experience in construction management, including 16 years at Bellway, where he rose through the ranks from Assistant Site Manager to Contracts Manager.

He joins us at an exciting time of ambitious growth and will provide invaluable insight as we enter our next phase of delivering further high-quality homes across the south of England.

Peter began his career working in building and carpentry before obtaining a degree in Construction Management from the University of Plymouth. He went on to work for major housebuilders including Taylor Wimpey, where he first met our now Construction Director Richard Coles.

Describing Richard as by far the best Site Manager he ever worked for, Peter said the opportunity to reunite with him was a big factor in joining us.

Peter said: “When the opportunity to work with Richard again came up, I knew this was what I wanted to do. I learned a lot from him, and the skills I gathered have had a big influence on how I manage people.

"To be part of a great business culture where everybody is approachable and there’s a real sense of harmony is a breath of fresh air.”

“I could see the culture embedded and know that Richard prides himself on employing nice people. To be part of a great business culture where everybody is approachable and there’s a real sense of harmony is a breath of fresh air.”

As Contracts Manager, Peter oversees the delivery of several key developments, including Rivers Edge in Wimborne, Mountbatten Park in North Baddesley, our latest development in Bransgore in the New Forest and the construction of our new state-of-the-art headquarters.

The link between our Construction Director and site teams, Peter feeds into a wide range of departments, including our expert teams in Technical, Commercial, Customer Care, Sales and more.

Peter is passionate about nurturing high-performing site teams and empowering the workforce with the tools and expertise to work to their best and deliver award-winning results.

His proudest career achievement came in 2021, when he received an NHBC Pride in the Job award for overseeing the transformation of a long-abandoned hospital site into much-needed homes and apartments for the local community.

Peter added: “That project really meant a lot to me. I used to drive past all the time and always thought something should be done there.

“To take one former important community asset and harness it into something of great value for the community was just so rewarding.”

Outside of work, Peter enjoys five-a-side football, trail running and coaching his eight-year-old daughter’s football team, alongside family life with his wife and their seven-year-old son.

Peter is optimistic about the evolving future of housebuilding, from the drive towards a more sustainable way of life as we head towards net zero, to increased collaboration with our business partners as we transition to cutting-edge innovation in the sector.

He concluded: “No two days are the same in housebuilding. I often compare it to a mountain climb – progress appears slow and steady at the start, the middle is peak pressure as you approach the summit, and then as you descend, the feeling at the end is pure joy of the achievement.”

Peter brings a wealth of knowledge, a passion for effective people management, and shares our commitment to delivering homes and developments that continue to stand the rest of time as the Wyatt Homes reputation moves from strength to strength.
